Lawrence Ho to give G2E Asia Conference keynote address

15 May 2018

Melco Resorts Chairman & CEO Lawrence Ho will deliver the keynote address to launch the 2018 G2E Asia Conference this morning.

Scheduled to kick-off at 09.30, Ho is expected to discuss the state of the market in Macau and his company’s ambitions for expansion throughout Asia.

Melco Resorts currently operates three integrated resorts in Macau – City of Dreams, Studio City and Altira – as well as Mocha Clubs and its Philippines IR, City of Dreams Manila. The company is also developing the first ever integrated resort in Cyprus – where it holds a 75% stake – in partnership with local firm Cyprus Phassouri Ltd (CPZ) and has stated its intention to aggressively pursue a casino license in Japan.

In fact, Melco Resorts has already been among the most active of all foreign operators in Japan with Ho recently declaring he would potentially be willing to spend more than US$10 billion to build a world class Japanese IR. He has also stated his intention to relocate the company’s headquarters to Japan should it win one of the three licenses on offer.

Addressing local concerns over problem gambling, Melco’s Japan team unveiled in January a biometrics-based casino security system, MelGuard, which would verify the identity of all guests via fingerprint and facial recognition technology before allowing entry.
