Sands China President & COO, Dr Wilfred Wong, says the opening of the new Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge will create a boom in MICE activity for Sands China’s properties when it opens later this year.
“We are looking forward to the opening of the bridge because we believe it will create a lot more convention and MICE business,” Dr Wong said at the G2E Asia Conference on Wednesday. “Travellers will no longer have to fly to Hong Kong, stop in Hong Kong and then transport to Macau. They can go straight from the plane onto the bridge.
“So we are preparing for an onslaught of new convention and MICE space. In fact, this year we are receiving a lot more applications looking for new venues other than the traditional venues like the US.”
